Mason has created a new fun game for Matt and I. It is called “hide things in the trashcan.” Mason likes to pick various things up from around the house and throw them in our office trashcan. So far we have found a picture still in its frame, toys, $5, important papers (including Matt’s tags and registration for his car), and shoes. I don’t think we have lost anything important…at least not that we have realized. And now that we have caught on to his game, we check that trashcan twice before throwing anything out for the garbage collectors. He loves to keep us on our toes.
That’s right, I’m pregnant. I am almost 14 weeks along with a due date of June 16th. Below is a picture of baby scott #2 taken just last week.
Matt and I have a feeling that this child is going to be a little bit of a handful. At my ultrasound last week the tech was supposed to take measurements to make sure that everything was healthy with the baby. After trying 3 different ways to get these measurements, she finally gave up. Two other doctors came in and tried and they couldn’t either. Our baby just would not cooperate. See, a baby is supposed to be lying down, as shown in the picture above. However, our baby refused to lie down for longer than a second (I’m kind of surprised they were even able to snap this picture.) Our baby instead liked to stand up and do leg kicks. See the picture below: baby doing leg kicks.
So, I am now going back to the doctor today to try again with the ultrasound measurements. We’ll see how it goes. Also, this was the ultrasound that they were able to tell the sex for Mason. Did our baby cooperate for them to even look? Nope-had it’s legs crossed whenver it wasn’t jumping up and down.
Mason is such a sweet, mild-mannered little guy that it would make sense that this time around things would be shaken up a bit. My gut feeling tells me this is a girl, but again, just a guess. We’ll find out for sure in January. Mason is starting to understand the big brother role. Just last week he pointed to my stomach and said baby, and then tried to feed my belly button a cookie. I have no doubts that he will love his sibling and be a great big brother.
The picture above is just him playing at home. Quite often, he will go to the drawer that holds his hats and pick one out before he starts playing with his toys. The one shown above is his current favorite.
Mason is turning into quite the little ham. He loves attention and will act goofy to get it! If he knows people are watching him he will usually do a goofy dance or walk to get them to laugh. And then when they laugh, he cracks up and keeps doing it.
He still loves music-drums, guitar, piano, singing. He does it all.
And he’s still our sweet boy. Everyday before we leave daycare, he has to hug the other kids goodbye.
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. Matt and I are truly thankful for our little man.
Mason is a go-getter. At first we were wondering if he would freak out on this moo cow train ride, but he seemed to be soaking it in. In fact, when we went to take him out, he didn’t want to go. We had to pry his hands off of the barrel-converted cow .
This past weekend marked our first trip to a pumpkin patch with Mason. Last year we could have taken him…but honestly it would have been more for us than him as he was only 8 months old and was only crawling. We probably would have taken a quick photo, grabbed our pumpkins, and left. This year, however, was a blast! We went to Maris Farms with some very good friends of ours who have a 2 year old little girl. First we picked out our pumpkins and then we went to play on different activities the place offered (at a very reasonable price.) Below are some pictures of our fun day. Matt will also be posting some videos later, so check back in for those.
Mason and Amy-Lynn riding in the wheel barrow..we’re looking for the perfect pumpkins.

This was a barn full of corn that the kids could swim in…you sank down into it right away. They loved it!
Tractor races…Mason’s legs weren’t long enough to reach the pedals, so he required some assistance.
Mason driving the big tractor-he looked so serious and intent while doing it…he took his job very seriously.
We’ve been working with Mason for over a year now on his sign language. He didn’t start picking it up until about 7 months ago however. This is a very useful thing to teach babies so they can start communicating with you earlier than when it takes to learn how to talk. We say the words as we sign them so he picks up on how to speak the words at his own pace. We are very proud of our little boy and would like to show him off… well even more :).
So with the pictures already getting you excited about the video, here it is. Mason, the fish, Scott (who has to have his dad hold him under the arms lest he sink ). He even takes a little dunk. What a daring boy.
