Changes to the site

June 17th, 2009 by Diane

We have made a few changes to the site. Reid’s stats have been added to the baby info tab. The big change we have made is that all of the pictures we have taken are viewable on the Pics tab. It links directly to our Picasa web album. You’ll also notice that the website is now called “Mason and Reid Scott.” Matt is working on a new design for the site….it’s coming but couldn’t tell you when. It’s amazing how there is less time to do things with two kids. :)

So they do make tuxes for toddlers. Here is Mason sporting a full out tux. I mean it’s even the right material and the cut is nice too.

Today marks the day of a new era in this little growing Scott family. Reid Matthew was born today June 4, 2009 at Valley Medical Center at 6:22am. He weighs in at 7 lbs 1 oz and 18.7 in long. His hair is dark and eye color is indeterminent at this point.

Birth Story:

Around 10:45pm June 3, 2009, Diane woke up with minor contractions at 6 to 8 minute intervals. By 11:30am, we were sure Reid was coming. So, we called Tyler and Tracia to come get Mason so we could head to the hospital. Diane and I got everything together and got ourselves ready. All the while, the contractions were getting more intense and closer in interval.

We headed to the hospital around 2:30am and got there around 3:00am. We were admitted to Triage to make sure Diane was in actual labor and unfortunately they didn’t buy it at her 4.5cm dilation. When Diane laid down and had the monitors hooked up to her, the contractions became irregular. So, they told us to walk around the hospital for 45min. Of course as soon as she walks around, the contractions hit with ferocity and in higher frequency.

We got back to the room to hook the monitors up again and she checked in at 6.5cm and 80% efaced. Now they were buying it and got a room arranged for the birth. Unfortunately, Diane’s OB Dr. Webb wasn’t on call at the time. Diane was excited to have her OB deliver her and we were 2 hours too early for her shift, so we were assigned Dr. Channell (whom Diane liked very well). Dr. Channell was very sure this would be a quick labor but advised us that any pain killer would slow the process. She gave the choice of breaking her water or initiating pain killers through an IV. She asked this of Diane at the peak of a contraction mind you. Diane and I decided to let her go ahead and break the water which sent Diane in to full labor very quickly. It took about 15 to 20 more minutes past that for the time to push, so there was no time to introduce any pain killer. Diane was taking the pain head on.

After about 3 sets of 3 good pushes Reid was in the right position and ready to come out. So Diane was in full push mode and the OB told her to push as hard and as often as she could. Another 4 or 5 and on the 5th push, she about squeezed my arm off, and Reid came in to the world.

A sweet moment with a new brother

So, we were admitted at 3am and delivered Reid at 6:22am with no drugs or epidural. Diane is a stud.
